ABOUT
Filipino Culture Night is a student-run production that has been held for the past 24 years. Hosted by San Diego State University's student organization AB Samahan, 2010 marks the 25th production in our 39-year history to provide a culturally enriching experience for students, faculty and the community.
FCN portrays historical, current and envisioned events and issues within the Filipino and Filipino-American community through dances and an original theatrical play. FCN 2010's goal is to discover the key to preserving Filipino culture among the Filipino-American. This production will show that through self-discovery and cultural enlightenment, the Filipino-American can live life successfully to one day give back to the community. Inevitably, giving back will be the key to preserving Filipino culture for generations to come. The setting will take place 25 years in the future to show possible fate of Filipino culture and the on-going cycle of human aptitude. While issues addressed in the production reflect the Filipino-American community, situations in the play are relatable to any viewer.
The individuals who will be involved in FCN range from members of AB Samahan, SDSU students and non-SDSU students. Participants will participate in activities such as acting, dancing, singing, pre-and-post production and hospitality. This production is expected to perform to an audience of 1,200 people.
